Hello All!
I'm writing to you from our German-speaking corner of Discovery Middle School to ask you to remind your student to study tonight for their assessment tomorrow. For the last two weeks, students have been hard at work: matching descriptions, talking about what they look like, and even drawing and describing their own monsters! The assessment is 14 questions long. On their assessment, they will:
This assessment focuses greatly on what students understand. In written form, they have a lot of matching. Orally, they are expected to produce language in the Novice Proficiency range. This means they use a combination of words and phrases to express themselves in German. Many students exceeded expectations and spoke in complete sentences for their first mini-presentation, resulting in several A+'s. Please Note: If your student was absent today or end of last week, they will not need to take the assessment tomorrow. They can make it up after school one day this week or before school one day next week. As always, let me know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Kelly Bowman

I have been relying on email more than Weebly this term, but I did want to post the class emails here. We have had a great time in Term 2 learning to talk about ourselves in German! The best part of being a teacher is getting to know students and sharing your interests with them. It has been extremely pleasing to see how many students are genuinely interested in the German language and culture!
See below for some of our first class e-mail: From October 26th-- Hallo from German class! We have gotten off to a great start in Term 2 Survey of German! Here are just a few of the targets that students have been reaching in our first two weeks together:
Grades from last week will be trickling in over the next few days, so keep an eye on INOW. An "NTN" means a student has not turned in an assignment, but I will still accept it. If you haven't already signed up for Remind, please do so by texting bh3ka7 to @81010. Please let me know if you need anything. It has been a tremendous blessing to work with each child at Discovery Middle School; I look forward to making more memories in the German classroom with your child! Blessings, Kelly Bowman |
